Media Advisory: ARC Hopeful That Clinton's Visit will Spur More Attention to Africa's Farmers
In light of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's seven-nation trip to Africa this week, The National Peace Corps Association and Africa Rural Connect (ARC) (www.AfricaRuralConnect.org) are asking people to post their suggestions on the recently launched ARC Web site regarding what the Obama administration can do to improve the lives of rural farmers at the grassroots level. ARC is a new resource for discussing issues, identifying problems, and building viable solutions to some of Sub-Saharan Africa's most entrenched problems.
During her trip, Secretary Clinton will be supporting agricultural development and the Africa Growth Opportunity Act.
The recently launched ARC Web site is already generating discussion about dead aid versus smart aid. Can Africa's most entrenched challenges be solved through providing aid or should this money be spent on partnerships and investing in businesses, and small-scale rural farmers?
