The National Peace Corps Association (NPCA) will hold a press conference to award the grand finale winner of the Africa Rural Connect (ARC) online contest. NPCA launched ARC this summer as an online community to foster collaborative thinking to help solve rural Africa's greatest challenges. Foo was the grand finale winner of the ARC ideas contest that took place this year to help strengthen agricultural development in Africa.

Speakers will include Molly Mattessich, manager of ARC from Washington, D.C., United States; Jacky Foo, grand finale winner from Stockholm, Sweden and Ernesto Gluecksmann, partner consultant with Infamia from Washington, D.C., United States.

NPCA will award Foo $20,000 to implement his idea, called the Ndekero challenge, to develop a community rabbit-keeping system that can work in partnership with a rabbit agri-business farm. Foo will implement the project in the small town of Ndekero in Meru, Kenya, through Globtree in Sweden, where he is a program officer for environment and sustainable development, A rabbit farm will be established at the 30-acre farm of the Nazareth Sisters to produce 100 kg of rabbit meat every month and will provide part-time, income-generating jobs to the community.
