When carrying a research on monitoring of hunting and bushmeat for trade in souhtern Cameroon, I discorvered that the hunting activities by local populations generally triples in rainy season when local cocoa farmers are involved in treatment of their cocoa plantations.  Since the income generated when selling their products do not enable them to sove their basic needs, to buy fertilisers and other cocoa treatment products, they are obliged to triple their hunting activities as far as their cocoa plantation needs are concerned. Helping cocoa producers by buying their products at a good prize, by supporting them to take good care of their plantations will reduce the pressure on natural ressources and then promote the conservation of biodiversity. Actions such as creation of local cooperative and local microfinace institutions where they can save and loan money when need be, developement of cocoa varieties which do not require a lot of fertilizers and other treatments can lead to the incease of their income and dissuade them from hunting for livelihoods
