Rabbit Farming Project Diversification

Introduction

I and my friend have a small scale rabbit farm from which I project to be having around 2000 - 5000 rabbits this same time next year. Therefore, I am targeting a breeding stock of 500 rabbits. On this aspect; I have also introduced my project to some youths in my village basically for the sake of giving them a source of income as well as food on their side. On the other side, the youths will help in increasing the level of production.

Basically, one of the marketing channels we are targeting for the rabbits is opening up a hotel in Nairobi town. Equally important, we plan to diversify our services to include home deliveries to clients in Estates through an ordering system.

Therefore, due to the large number of rabbits that will need to be slaughtered, that's why we have seen it is viable to develop an abbatoir for slaughtering and packaging services. Notably, this will also enable us to diversify the products extracted from the rabbits in the process, for example, meat, skin and fur processing. Therefore, this project will give other youths apart those involved in rabbit keeping a stable source of income and also bring development to the community.

Accordingly, on the issue of the restaurant, we plan to compliment the rabbit meat with natural fruit juices instead of the sodas. We have projected to plant and grow some of the easy to manage fruits by ourselves and encourage the youths to do the same because we shall be buying the fruits from them. Thus they don't have to worry about the market. The fruits we aim to start with are the ones which take a shorter period to mature and become productive.On this aspect; we must also have a fruit processing branch.

Therefore, from the rabbit farm project, we will be able to diversify it to initiate the development of many other sectors which do not necessarily require very large capital.
