A Bicycle Mobile Phone Charger for A Green Energy and Rural Development in Africa

A BICYCLE MOBILE PHONE CHARGER (SMART CHARGER)

A bicycle mobile phone charger comprises of a dynamo  , a voltage rectifier and regulation circuit  wherein  in use rotary motion of the bicycle  causes the dynamo to produce electric voltage which is rectified and regulated and be stored by the rechargeable  battery of the phone.

This invention is intended to utilize the rotary motion of a bicycle to charge a mobile phone

Conventionally, mobile phones come with their chargers that derive their energy from power lines, consequently people who are out of reach of power grids suffers from lack of power. This leads to them paying heavily to recharge their phones severally in a week.

There are some chargers that utilize solar energy but a large population cannot afford a solar panel unlike the bicycle which is a common mode of transport. Furthermore solar is unreliable source of energy

 Thus there is a need of a charger that does not suffer from associated problems of power unavailability and unreliability.

OBJECTIVE

The innovation provides a solution to the current energy crisis in rural areas in most part of Africa. Also the project initiative is aimed at environmental conservation from ongoing search for renewable sources of energy. The innovation will be a big boost especially in rural areas where electricity is limited.
