Want to be a reputable organization that will assist the government to achieve reduction of poverty and unemployment among the youths. We plan to run simple course on vocational training for over 1000 youths within the first year of the program and increase it to 10000 within 5years of the program.
Creating a youth based network that will cut across all ethnic and religious group in Nigeria
Nigerian youths have a mind set to get “rich quick” without working, even the biblical story of creation, (God worked for six days and rested for a day), the reverse is the case in Nigeria. This unequivocally has being a bane of the development of the country because everyone wants short cuts to success /quick money, (Yahoo Yahoo, Rituals etc)
Economic recession is not a new phenomenon in the contemporary times taking retrospect of the economic downturn in Europe in the 1930s which annihilated so many newly industrializing economies and of so many North America and many part of Asia. Similarly, in the late August 2007, this same phenomenon (economic malady) rare its ugly head in the global scene which crumbled so many economies whether developed, developing or under developing.
Succinctly, it can be asserted without equivocation that no economy is totally immune to the state of flux that characterized the global economic downturn as it was experienced in the close of the third quarter of 2008.
Consequently, major sectors of most affected economies suffered a "Tsunami setback”. More specifically the developing economies of the third world countries which were apparently at the receiving end.
A case in point is the downsizing and right sizing in the many private sectors in Nigeria who over the years has assumed the role of major employer of labour which was hitherto the role of government. This increased the number of unemployment among the Nigerian Youths and the number keeps increasing going by the United Nation Data well over 40 million
are unemployed, while several millions are under-employed.
It is an undeniable fact of experience, that youth in any society are the vehicle of development and growth. That is any development without the involvement of the youths is going to be an exercise in futility or a mirage.
Therefore, taking into cognizance of the current trend of the benefits of industrialization and globalization Nigerian youths are below the ladder of development and over 65% of the youths within NIGERIA are not gainfully employed, and most are under-employed which consequently affects productivity.
Any nation that the youth’s wakes up to sell gala, ice cream, newspaper vendor e.t.c and the remaining engage in the discussion of European Football cannot develop and crime will be the order of the day, like the popular saying “an idle hand is the devil’s workshop“, this is the reason why most Nigerian youths engage in crime and by the day and the numbers of youth being sent to jail increase in scores on a daily basis.
This program is intended to be under the supervision of Ministry for Youth Development in all the state, and in partnership with corporate organizations within NIGERIA, MGDS, Corps Members.
The program is about skill acquisition/vocational education for secondary pupils from SS1-SS3 and interested youths (unemployed and employed youths) within NIGERIA and hopefully in the nearest future will intend to expand the scope to most of the developing countries This will help to equip the youths, develop entrepreneurial skills which will consequently culminate into self employment after the program, organizing themselves into mini co-operative groups for soft loans.
Skill acquisition: can be defined as acquiring new knowledge, behaviors, skills, values, preferences or understanding, and may involve synthesizing different types of information. The ability to learn is possessed by humans program will enable government to de-emphasis paper qualification and encourage acquisition of practical knowledge and skills so as to put a stop to examination malpractices.
Furthermore the standard of education in Nigeria no doubt ,is falling day by day due to the factors among others, sales of certificates, purchase of admission quota ,mass leakage of examination papers, sexual harassment of students by lecturers and vice versa. With these situations we may end up producing large numbers of “uneducated graduates” who are intellectually dubious and morally hollow. The truth that can never be buried or shied away from is that a person who is knowledgeable and well informed becomes an asset to his nation and a threat to poverty and starvation.
