Project Bright Light
Project Bright Light: Painting a Brighter Future in the Kibera Slum; Nairobi Kenya. Women's Economic Development: Drinking Water Kiosk and Sewing Shop Initiative.
A word from our Executive Director:
Dear Friends of Project Bright Light,
We want to let you know that we have a request from women living in Kibera Slum in Kenya and therefore we need your hand to make this Project a success.
People of Kibera slum live in poverty and some can hardly afford a 2 square meal a day,we therefore hope that we can paint their world brighter with the following Project.
- Water Kiosk to sell clean water to the residents of the area. The entire community will benefit from increased access to clean drinking water and the women will earn an income which will help sustain their families, pay school fees and buy nutritious food for their children.
- A center for dressmaking/tailoring and manufacture of sanitory pads/towels. In addtition to the direct benefit to the women working in the shop, this initiative will provide benefits to many other women and families: most women in the region can not currently afford the luxury of such products. The establishment of this facility will improve the lives of many women by providing a new access point for obtaining reasonoably priced sanitary products. Production of school uniforms will also provide benefit to the entire community by making the clothing required to attend school more affordable for families.
We are looking for a budget of $5000 to make this a reality.
