Dairy Goat Rearing

My idea is to set up a dairy goat rearing project to produce milk for sale,make goat milk yoghurt and sell the offsprings.

This project proposes to:

   -Exploit the huge health benefits of goat milk in comparison to cow milk

  -Set up a profitable goat milk and yoghurt procesing plant.

  -Show the potential of dairy goats for developing countries and in particular sub saharan  Africa

  -Empower women in the rural western kenya economically.

The product that is goat milk addresses both the Health needs and economic needs of the people. The lucrative price of goat milk also makes it a viable venture. Goat milk has just been introduced into our local market and is doing quite well due to its health benefits hence the huge potential for growth. As many kenyans are becoming health conscious goat milk is becoming a favorite, putting in mind people living with HIV/AIDS, Children, this milk is highly reccommended as it has a profound positive effect on the immune system.

SUMMARY.

I intend to start off with five goats. Then i will be selling some of the offsprings to the women in the community at a subsidized price and arrange buy-backs for milk from them. Our area has alot of shrubs for fodder and goats are manageable for the women as compared to the dairy cows. Buying milk from them will in effect empower the women, improve their childrens health, hence peace in homes and improved quality of life.
